Item The relationship between macroeconomic factors and profitability of reinsurance companies in Africa : an application of system GMM-Model(PT Keberlanjutan Strategis Indonesia, 2023) Nzuza, Zwelihle Wiseman; Msomi, Thabiso SthembisoDespite the known strengths of the reinsurance companies to generate immense profits, evidence from existing literature indicates that the future of the reinsurance companies needs to be more robust to economic deficiencies leading to underperformance. There are many possible factors behind this. However, this study aimed to determine the relationship between macroeconomic factors and the profitability of African reinsurance companies with a Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) model. The study used 121 listed reinsurance companies from 48 African countries using secondary data from year 2008 to 2019. A 1452 observation panel data set was analyzed using conventional least squares and two-step System GMM estimators. The study revealed that GDP, interest rate, and the exchange rate positively impact profitability. In contrast, the inflation rate and money supply revealed a negative and negligible impact on profitability. The input of this research resides in providing new evidence on the macroeconomic factors influencing the profitability of listed reinsurance companies in Africa.Item Modeling South African accounting academic staff teaching rationalism factors for the preservation of indigenous knowledge(International Foundation for Research and Development, 2016-10) Nzuza, Zwelihle WisemanSouth African universities are under pressure to maximize the amount of accounting students, with specific reference to expand the number of qualified black African accountants, especially the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA). Accountants are at the center of countries’ economy and act as lecturers in the academic institutions. Therefore, the issue of inadequate production of a new brand black qualified accountants may have something to do with accounting academic staff teaching rationalism, and this study seeks to address that subject. Literature has been used to investigate factors influencing accounting academic staff teaching rationalism and to propose a suitable model for accounting academic staff teaching rationalism factors for the preservation of South African indigenous knowledge. The proposed model forms the basis of the study results and is grounded on sound perception theories: bottom-up theory and top-down theory. The significance of a proposed model is subject to experiments by other scholars within the boundaries of the republic of South Africa or even outside.Item Enhancing municipal e-procurement using inventory stock control: South African design approach(Business Perspectives, 2015) Nzuza, Zwelihle Wiseman; Garbharran, Hari LallThe control of stock is imperative to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of municipal e-procurement. The main purpose of this study is threefold: to identify critical factors influencing e-procurement; to assess strategies used by inventory stock control to improve successful e-procurement; and to explore significant relationships between inventory stock control and e-procurement, in the South African municipalities, with specific reference to the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Province. This study uses the 5Ps theoretical framework (purpose, principles, processes, people and performance). This census study was descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative in nature with 62 questionnaires administered by members of staff at procurement of the South African municipalities. Data are analyzed with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21.0. The results indicate that stock inspection, control strategies, organizational support, staff skills and involvement, and sustainability of the 5Ps attributes are the main promotional tools for inventory stock control to improve e-procurement in the South African municipalities. Interestingly, the hypotheses of the study are accepted and the departments reveal a significant relationship with purpose (p=.008*), people (p=.021*), principles (p=.004*), and organizational support (p=.008*). The study recommends strategic advancements in the stock control to improve e-procurement, and it also recommends that other researches to test and validate a proposed model.Item Towards a successful centralization of municipal procurement : a case of Kwazulu-Natal Province(Virtus Interpress, 2015) Nzuza, Zwelihle Wiseman; Lekhanya, Lawrence MpeleCentralization of municipal procurement in the KwaZulu-Natal Province is faced with several challenges. There were two aims for this study: to identify factors influencing municipal procurement and to design a model of the factors influencing municipal procurement, in an attempt to improve the understanding of municipal procurement. The proposed model is based on sound theoretical frameworks like knowledge management theory and the application of theory and practice ethics as well as the secondary data. The study found that the biographic factors as well as internal and external factors have strong influences on the success or failure of municipal procurement. The significance of these factors formed the basis for a proposed model and is subject to further experiments by other scholars.
